P.E.I. musician Teresa Doyle was nominated Thursday to represent the Green Party in the federal riding of Cardigan.

Doyle is a sixth-generation Islander from eastern P.E.I., who grew up on a family farm and earned a political science degree from the University of Prince Edward Island.

"I care deeply about this Island, about our country and our democracy, which is in a state of crisis," said Doyle in a news release.

Doyle will attempt to take the riding from Lawrence MacAulay, who has held it for the Liberals since 1988.
