Tories name new P.E.I. Opposition leader
P.E.I.'s Progressive Conservative caucus voted MLA Hal Perry as the new Opposition leader Wednesday morning.
P.E.I.'s Progressive Conservative caucus voted MLA Hal Perry as the new Opposition leader Wednesday morning.
This follows Olive Crane's announcement Tuesday night that she is stepping down in that role as well. Crane announced in December she was stepping down as party leader. Wednesday is her last day in both positions.
She will continue to sit as an MLA for district of Morell-Mermaid.
Another vote is expected Thursday. Caucus and the party executive are expected to vote on an interim party leader. It is customary for the party leader to also be Opposition leader if the leader is a sitting MLA.
Crane has publicly endorsed Hal Perry.
