1 dead, 5 hurt in head-on crash on Regina's Ring Road

A man died at the scene of a crash on Regina's Ring Road Friday afternoon. Five people were hurt in the crash and taken to hospital. It took place south of the McDonald Street off-ramp shortly after 4 p.m. CST.

Emergency crews respond to a two-car crash on the Ring Road in Regina Friday.

A man died at the scene of a head-on crash that happened on Regina's Ring Road Friday. Five other people were hurt in the crash and taken to hospital. The collision took place south of the McDonald Street off-ramp shortly after 4 p.m. CST.

While police have confirmed the identity of the man who died, they were not releasing his name and age.

According to police, the crash took place in the westbound lanes of Ring Road when a vehicle with a male driver and three male passengers that was going east on the road crossed the centre ditch and struck a westbound vehicle head-on. 

The driver of the westbound car was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A male passenger in the westbound vehicle was taken to hospital. All four people in the the eastbound vehicle were also taken to hospital. There was no information provided on their injuries.

The crash happened around 4:06 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Ring Road, near the McDonald Street exit. (Google Maps)
