An undercover operation has stopped an illegal fish-trafficking ring in the Buffalo Narrows area, the Saskatchewan government says.
Fifteen charges under fishing regulations were handed out to four men. As well, total fines topped $51,000.
The case dates back to 2011.
According to the province, undercover officers caught the four illegally trafficking walleye and outfitting without a licence.
The officers were also approached by subsistence fishermen who sold fish to them illegally, the province said.
One of the men was fined close to $19,000 and has been prohibited from commercial fishing for two years.
The men recently pleaded guilty to their offences in provincial court.
