Inverloch cheese recall warning updated by CFIA

Some cheese products sold in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and possibly other provinces have been recalled over fears of Listeria contamination.

Some cheese products sold in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and possibly other provinces have been recalled over fears of Listeria contamination.

Glen Echo Fine Foods is recalling Inverloch cheeses imported from Scotland.

The food recall warning was originally issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's (CFIA) on Nov. 21, but was updated Thursday to include additional product information.

CFIA says consumers should not eat the products and distributors, retailers and food service establishments should not sell or use the recalled items.

Eating food contaminated with Listeria can vomiting, nausea, cramps, diarrhea, severe headache, constipation and persistent fever. In rare cases, death can result.

In the case of the current recall, there have been no reported illnesses.

The recalled products include Isle of Kintyre Laird's Mustard Mature Cheddar & Whole Grain Mustard and Inverloch Cheese Co.'s Gigha Cheese (Flavoured with Pear Schnapps).
