City of Regina holds open house for planned P3 school
School will be built in proposed Coopertown neighbourhood
The City of Regina held an open house Tuesday night for the public to learn about a public-private partnership (P3) school that is being planned for the city's northwest.
The location of the school is in the proposed Coopertown neighbourhood.
The open house was scheduled because the land will need to be rezoned for the school and its adjacent park.
The Rosewood Park project was approved as one of several new joint-use schools in the province.
It was originally slated to be built in the Skywood development, another northwest neighbourhood.
However, according to a report that went to city council last month, officials noted that development costs for the original plan were higher than expected.
Officials recommended that city council make changes so the school could be built in Coopertown.
City council approved that change at a meeting on July 27.
The Rosewood school still needs to go to the city's planning commission in September, before returning to city council for final approval.
