Corner Gas returning as animated series
Iconic Canadian sitcom comes back, with most of original cast
Corner Gas, the iconic sitcom set in Saskatchewan, is returning to the airwaves in cartoon form.
Show producers announced in a news release Monday they're working on 13 episodes of an animated series that will star the voices of Brent Butt and most of the cast from the live-action version, which ended its six-season run in 2009.
Janet Wright, who played Emma in the sitcom and the 2014 movie, died last month. Casting is underway for a new Emma.
Other actors returning include Gabrielle Miller (Lacey), Eric Peterson (Oscar), Fred Ewanuick (Hank), Lorne Cardinal (Davis) and Tara Spencer-Nairn (Karen).

The animated series will run on the Comedy Network, starting in 2017-18.
Pre-production on the show begins in Toronto and Vancouver in January.
The original show was filmed in Regina and Rouleau, Sask.
