Estevan girl's disappearance still unsolved 5 years later

It's been five years since the night a 13-year-old girl from Estevan, Sask., said goodbye to a friend then vanished without a trace.

Courtney Jennelle Struble had been watching movies with a friend and, shortly before midnight on July 9, 2004, left for home.

She never made it.

The investigation into Courtney's disappearance continues, but all the leads have gone dry, according to the Estevan police. Her disappearance happened just days after another high-profile missing child case, that of five-year-old Tamara Keepness of Regina.

There's hope that bringing more attention to Courtney's case can help provide answers to the families, Const. Don DeChief said.   "We are all hoping here that this anniversary sparks some memories and gets people thinking about it again and maybe something will come up from that," DeChief said.

On Thursday, members of Struble's family will be gathering for dinner to remember the 13 years they had with Courtney.

"Courtney was so much dedicated to family," her aunt Janet Alberts said. "You would get a phone call bright and early from her. And just 'Merry Christmas, hi, happy birthday.' And that's what I kinda miss most."
