Don't let their youth deceive you, this trio's sound is a welcome blast from the past.

Saskatchewan band, In With the Old, blends time honoured classics with original material to create their own blend of folksy-bluegrass.

The band, made up of Ellen Froese-Kooijenga, Kasia Thorlakson and Jaxon Lalonde, performs "My Mother's Couch" as part of CBC Radio One's The Morning Edition Empty Room series.

The band released their debut EP in 2014, with plans to release a new full length album soon.

The trio was nominated for Group of the Year at 2015's Saskatchewan Country Music Awards. They will play at four different venues for Saskatoon Jazz Fest before heading to The Winnipeg Folk Fest in July.

Next Week

She's no stranger to CBC listeners — Saskatoon's Eileen Laverty will step into the Empty Room spotlight.
