A coroner's inquest will be held next month into the 2013 death of Lee Allen Bonneau, 6, whom the RCMP believe was killed by another child.

The public inquest is set to begin April 6 and is scheduled to run two weeks at the Court of Queen's Bench in Regina.

Bonneau was in the care of the Ministry of Social Services and living with his foster parents at the time of his death on August 22.

He was found badly injured on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation and later died.

A report from the children's advocate said the RCMP determined that he was a victim of homicide and believes that a 10-year-old boy was responsible.

That boy couldn't be charged because he was under 12.

The inquest can establish the medical cause and manner of death.  The coroner’s jury can also make recommendations to prevent future deaths.

Coroner Alma Wiebe of Saskatoon will preside at the inquest.
