John Robert Strang of McLean, Sask., area charged with murder
Lisa Strang found dead in home on Saturday
Saskatchewan RCMP have charged John Robert Strang with first-degree murder in the death of Lisa Strang, the McLean-area woman he had been in a relationship with.
Strang, 48, was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday.
That happened after an off-duty RCMP member spotted a 2013 Jeep he was believed to be driving heading north on Highway 29 toward the Battlefords.
Other RCMP officers arrived and took him into custody.
After Strang was arrested, he was taken to hospital in Battleford for treatment of minor injuries that occurred before his contact with police, the RCMP said.
After being treated and released, he was put back in RCMP custody.
Strang was scheduled to appear before a justice of the peace in North Battleford Monday. He'll be kept in custody until his next court appearance in Regina provincial court.
Lisa Strang, 47, was found dead in her McLean-area home on Saturday. The man accused of her murder had been living in the same house.
Lisa Strang worked for the Saskatchewan Party. In fact, she was its longest-serving employee, having worked for the party for 11 years.
"Lisa was a dear and trusted colleague and valued member of our team and we will miss her tremendously." said party executive director Patrick Bundrock.
Police haven't said anything about the cause of death.
