Neither forest fires nor foul play caused a recent fire at a La Ronge, Sask., department store, the RCMP says.

An investigation into the cause continues.

On June 30, fire crews were called to the fire at the Fields store on the 1300 block of La Ronge Ave. in the northern city.

The store was engulfed in flames. After the fire was over, the building was still standing but the contents were severely damaged.

La Ronge has been dealing with heavy smoke from forest fires in recent weeks, but fire officials said that wasn't the cause.

An initial investigation has also determined that the fire was not criminal in nature, the RCMP said.

No one was hurt.
