Saskatchewan's mayors and council members will take another look at requiring bicycle users to wear helmets.
Delegates from Prince Albert say seven provinces have some form of bike helmet law and Saskatchewan should follow suit.
In some provinces, it's left to individual municipalities to pass helmet bylaws, but the SUMA resolution says Saskatchewan-wide rules would be better.
The P.A. delegates want traffic safety legislation amended to make bike helmets mandatory for all age groups, with a suitable penalty included.
Bike helmets are among 11 proposed resolutions contained in the SUMA agenda.
Delegates will also be asked to vote on:
- expanded golf cart use on the streets of Kamsack.
- supporting a national inquiry into missing and murdered aboriginal women.
- lobbying the province to give emergency response vehicles a fuel tax exemption.
The SUMA convention, which is held in Saskatoon this year, started on the weekend and runs to Wednesday.
