Police in Regina said a man died after being hit by a bus this afternoon.

Police said a man died in hospital after being struck by a bus in Regina Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the man, who was not identified, was found lying in the road on the 2300 block of Broad Street. 

A call came about the collision came in just before 2 p.m. CST, a police news release said and while vehicles were diverted around the scene, traffic flow had since returned to normal.

Officers were told the man died around 2:30 CST Wednesday.

A police news release said officers collected statements from the bus driver and potential witnesses. Identifying the man and notifying his next of kin were among the priorities for police, the release said.

A statement from Regina City Manager Chris Holden said the city would cooperate fully with the police investigation and offered condolences to the victim's family.
