Overdose alert issued for the city after a spike in suspected cases and deaths

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health has issued an overdose alert for Regina after a sharp rise in suspected overdoses and deaths in the city over the past week.
Between June 5 and 12, Regina Police Service responded to 54 suspected overdoses — with 12 of those calls happening on Wednesday alone.
Four people are believed to have died from suspected overdoses during that time. Fentanyl is suspected in many of the incidents, and several cases required multiple doses of naloxone (Narcan).
The alert will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on June 19, 2025.
The Ministry of Health says if you see someone experiencing an overdose, call 911, administer naloxone if available, and stay with the person until help arrives.
