Officers in Prince Albert, Sask., have arrested a 29-year-old man over a homicide following a violent family dispute, according to the Prince Albert Police Service.

Police were called to a home in the unit block of 28th Street West after receiving a report of a "family dispute with violence," just before 2 p.m. CST on Saturday. A Saturday news release did not provide the names of the accused or the victim, the age of the victim, or a specific charge.

When officers arrived, police said they found the female victim dead and arrested the man, who police said knew the victim.

"Police can confirm this was not a random act and there is no danger to the public," the news release said.

It also said police will provide more information as the investigation continues.
