Regina-Wascana re-elects Liberal Ralph Goodale
Goodale was first elected to Parliament in 1974, MP for current riding since 1993
Regina-Wascana has once again voted Liberal.
CBC is projecting Ralph Goodale to be the winner of the riding, edging out Michael Kram (Conservative), April Bourgeois (NDP) and Frances Simonson (Green).
This is Goodale's eighth-straight win in the riding. He was first elected in Regina-Wascana in the 1993 federal election, and has been the Member of Parliament in this part of Regina for 22 years.
Goodale was first elected to Parliament when he was only 24 years old in the 1974 election.
He is currently the deputy leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. He also has experience as the minister of agriculture, the minister of natural resources, the minister of public works and the minister of finance when the Liberal Party was in power.
The Regina-Wascana riding used to stretch past the town of Montmartre, but the rural area was significantly reduced with the new boundaries.
The riding has a diverse mix of people, including 30 senior homes and a lot of student housing.
