Glen Davies, the top boss at Regina City Hall, is stepping down.

Davies, the city manager since June 2006, is retiring on Nov. 1, 2015.

During his tenure, the city has launched a major sewage treatment plant upgrade and a stadium project. It has also dealt with a multi-million-dollar pension deficit and seen its own debt rise substantially.

A news release from the city says that under his leadership, the city has reduced "red tape" and become "more service driven and customer focussed."

"It is with mixed emotions that I learned of Mr. Davies' decision,"  Mayor Michael Fougere said in a news release.

"Glen has been a formidable leader and spearheaded many initiatives to improve the City's operations," Fougere said in a news release.

"He has also been an integral leader in developing important partnerships within the community and beyond. I wish him well in the future. His well-thought-out advice will be missed."

Davies said it's "time to move on."

"Major projects are on time and on budget, big issues like the pension are on the way to resolution," he said in a news release. "I leave the city in a better place and in good hands."

A national search will be held to find his replacement, the City said.
