With today being Eid ul-Fitr, Muslims in Regina are celebrating the end of the month-long daylight fast of Ramadan with prayers this morning.

The Islamic Association of Saskatchewan says Eid events in past years have seen around 7,000 people attending.

The doors opened for communal prayers at the Canada Centre Building at Evraz place this morning at 7:30 a.m. CST in Regina.

A similar event is taking place at Saskatoon's Prairieland Park, with thousands of people expected to attend.

Following some speeches, prayers and mingling, the event was expected to finish at around 10 a.m.
