Regina's most famous snowboarder could soon have a street named after him.

The City of Regina says Olympic medalist Mark McMorris's name has been approved for use on a street or park.

The location is not yet determined.

At 21, he's one of the youngest people, if not the youngest, to be honoured in this fashion.

McMorris is among the world's top snowboarders, winning a bronze medal in slopestyle at the Sochi Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

It's the second time in recent months that a 20-something celebrity from Regina has received the honour.

TV star Tatiana Maslany, 29, is to have a street named after her in a new neighbourhood on the north end of the city.
