Roughriders hire Greg Quick as defensive coordinator

The Richie Hall era is over and Greg Quick is now the defensive coordinator in Saskatchewan.

Quick spent last season as the linebackers coach for the Montreal Alouettes

Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin has found his new defensive leader.

On Monday, the Riders announced the team has hired Greg Quick as defensive coordinator. The move comes just over a month after the team announced Richie Hall would not be back next season as the defensive play-caller.

Former B.C. Lions head coach Mike Benevides was considered a top-candidate for the Riders vacant defensive coordinator job, but Benevides turned down the offer.

Quick joins the Green and White after spending 2014 as the linebackers coach for the Montreal Alouettes. He spent 2010 and 2011 in the same position with the Toronto Argonauts.

Quick previously spent five seasons as head coach of the University of Chicago.

Chamblin is expected to announce the rest of the coaching staff in February.
