Hundreds of people gathered in Saskatchewan tonight to honour missing or murdered loved ones.

In Regina, the Sisters in Spirit gathering was held at the First Nations University.

At least 600 Indigenous women and girls in Canada are missing or have been murdered. Jaqueline Anaquod said it's a chance for friends and family in Regina to call for justice during a candlelight vigil, feast, and round dance.

"I am hoping for the community to mobilize because the Harper government, the Canadian government has made no progress with aboriginal women or violence against aboriginal women," Anaquod said. "So I don't depend on the government, I look to our community members."

Two hundred other gatherings were held across Canada today. They included a march in Saskatoon and a candlelight vigil in La Ronge.
