WolfCop hits theatres June 6, sequel starts production in fall

The Saskatchewan-made movie WolfCop has yet to hit the theatres, but it's already got a sequel.

The film company CineCoup said on the weekend that due to the strong positive buzz about WolfCop, it's putting WolfCop 2 into production this fall.

The original WolfCop, which as the title suggests is a horror-comedy about a police officer who's a werewolf, is scheduled to appear in Canadian theatres June 6.

The movie, which is getting a lot of attention on social media with such taglines as "Like Dirty Harry, only harrier" and "Here comes the fuzz", was shot over the past year in Regina and Moose Jaw.

The producers say they've had two successful screenings for international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival, and based on that positive reception, they'll proceed with a sequel.

"We can't divulge much about the storyline at this point, only that it will be dirtier and harrier than the first one," CineCoup president Brad Pelman said in a news release.
