Police investigate Saskatoon's 3rd homicide of the year

Saskatoon police are investigating the city’s third homicide of the year after a 20-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning.

Police say one man arrested, 26-year-old suspect still at large

Saskatoon police are investigating the city's third homicide of the year after a 20-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Saskatoon Police Service responded to a call at around 5 a.m. on May 17 at a motel in the 2000 block of Avenue B North, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital but later died from his injuries.

A 27-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Police have not yet released his name.

A second suspect, 26-year-old Lawrence Opikokew, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Police are warning the public not to approach him and to contact authorities with any information on his whereabouts.

Opikokew is described as six feet four inches tall and 190 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
