The magazine praised the Saskatoon cars for such features as LED lighting, an emphasis on officer safety and an exterior design that allows "citizens to see at a glance the direction of travel in all kinds of weather."

According to a 2014 news release from the Saskatoon police, the vehicles were unveiled in May of that year and represented a shift from the Ford Crown Victoria model to the Taurus and Explorer models.

"The striping package was met with enthusiasm from both our own members and you, our community," states the Facebook post.

The Vancouver Police Department won first place in the competition and the Gatineau Police Service came in second.
