A woman has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars for stealing a Remembrance Day poppy box from a restaurant in Moose Jaw last year.

Angela Orr, 32, also stole from Safeway and Staples stores.

She will serve that sentence at the same time she serves a one-year sentence on another offence — possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The Crown prosecutor in the case said Orr turned herself in and returned the box of poppies. She had taken them from the Landscape Restaurant in Moose Jaw.

Court heard she had stolen the box, which contained money, to feed her addiction.

She was given three months' credit for time already served, leaving a net sentence of nine months.

After she's out of jail, she'll be under a one-year probation order.
