RCMP say two men are in custody facing a number of charges relating to an alleged threat directed at Swift Current Comprehensive High School on Wednesday.

According to RCMP, shortly before 10 a.m. CST that day, the local detachment was informed that a student had made threats against the high school.

RCMP did not provide any additional details about the nature of the threat.

Members of the RCMP were able to immediately locate and arrest a man they identified as a suspect. They also found another person of interest in the case and arrested that man too.

Their investigation led them to a home in the community where they seized an air soft replica firearm.

Two men, both 18, are facing charges. One is accused of uttering threats and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose. The other man is accused of uttering threats.

They appeared in court Thursday morning, RCMP said, and both remain in custody awaiting their next court dates.

RCMP noted that officers worked closely with staff at the high school, as soon as they became aware of the complaint.

"At no time was there any immediate risk to the students, staff or school," RCMP said in a statement. "No actions were taken to limit the movements or activities of students either inside or outside the school and there was no disruption to classes, students or school staff."
