There was a bit of a scare at Saskatoon's airport on Thursday when something — either a drone or radio-controlled toy —flew too close for comfort to an Air Canada passenger plane.

It happened just before noon CST as the Embraer 190, flying in from Toronto, was coming in for a landing at Diefenbaker Airport.

A member of the crew spotted the small, remotely piloted aircraft, which got within about 30 metres of the plane.

There was no damage and no-one was hurt.

The sighting was reported to the authorities, a Transport Canada report said.

It's one of several instances of drones and planes experiencing problems near Saskatchewan airports.
