2 charged following alleged armed robbery with bear spray in Saskatoon

Police say three people tried to rob a man of his cell phone Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the suspects were located nearby and were arrested without incident

Two people have been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Saskatoon Wednesday.

At roughly 4:45 p.m. CST, police received several reports about a group of people fighting in the 2500 block of 18th Street W., according to a police news release.

When officers arrived on scene, a man told them he had been approached from behind by three unknown people who tried to rob his phone while he was using it. Police said the man refused and was struck by a man before fleeing.

One of the men then chased the victim, using bear spray during the pursuit, police said. The victim fled to a nearby school.

Officers found two men and one woman nearby. Police said one of the men had a can of bear spray and the woman had crystal meth. The other man was released without charges. 

A 22-year-old man is now charged with robbery, assault and possession of a dangerous weapon while the 29-year-old woman was charged with robbery, assault and possession of crystal methamphetamine.

They were taken into custody without incident.
