Park the pickup, take the bus to Country Music Awards
City of Saskatoon sings praises of public transit for CCMAs weekend
Drinking beer and driving around in your pickup truck might be a country music cliché, but the City of Saskatoon is doing what it can to write a new tune by encouraging fans to take the bus when they head out to celebrate their favourite genre this weekend.
The Canadian Country Music Awards are in Saskatoon this weekend and kick off with a big cabaret at Prairieland Park Friday night.
The city is urging people to consider public transit as a safe way to get to and from the party.
Sticking with the pickup theme, it may be tempting to climb in the truck to drive out to the CCMA show on Sunday at SaskTel Centre, but to avoid traffic congestion, the city is singing a familiar tune and asking people to think about taking the bus.
Special shuttle buses will run on Sunday from downtown out to SaskTel Centre beginning at 3:30 p.m. CST. The final bus leaves at 4:45. Buses return to downtown directly after the show.
