A 62-year-old man from the Keeseekoose First Nation, near Yorkton, Sask., is now charged with manslaughter after a fatal collision on Aug. 24, 2024, on a nearby First Nation.

RCMP say Kenward Strongquill drove into a group of four pedestrians — one adult and three girls under the age of 12 — on the Key First Nation. All four were injured and one of the girls died.

Strongquill did not stay at the accident scene and was arrested later, RCMP say.

He was originally charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, three counts of impaired driving and one count of impaired driving causing death.

On Monday, those charges were upgraded to include manslaughter.

Strongquill has been in custody since the crash.
