Flash mob brings pipes and drums to shoppers in Saskatoon
North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums offer a free concert at Lawson Height Mall
The busy din of the food court at Lawson Heights Mall was broken by the sound of bag pipes and drums on Sunday afternoon as shoppers were treated to a flash mob.
One lone bag piper started the event, but soon other pipers and drummers, sitting in various places in the food court or waiting down the corridor, joined the group for a concert that lasted about 10 minutes.
According to Sandy Campbell, the pipe major, this is the second time the North Saskatchewan Regiment Pipes and Drums has done an event like this.
"We decided to bring the joy that we can to the people that are out shopping and perhaps feeling a little bit of stress at this time of the year," he said.
Campbell said they wanted to find a fun event before their Christmas party.
"Just to see some people smiling and taking out their cameras and taking some pictures and videos today, [it] makes us feel pretty good."
