A funeral was held this afternoon for La Loche Community School victim Marie Janvier.

Police say Janvier, 21, was killed when a male opened fire at the Saskatchewan school last week. A teacher was also killed in the shooting, and seven people were injured. Nearby, two youths were found dead in a house in the village.

The village of La Loche is remembering Janiver as kind and compassionate.

"Marie was truly one of a kind," read her obituary. "You could travel the world and never meet another person like her."

The obituary goes on to talk about Janvier's love of animals and her community. During forest fires this summer, Janvier volunteered to return to the village to help dogs that were left behind.

"Every day she brought food and water to the dogs who were starving," read the obituary. "Hearing Marie tell the story herself would warm anyone's heart."

Earlier this week, hundreds of people lined the highway from Saskatoon to La Loche as Janvier's funeral procession passed.

"We will miss her and we know she is with us all in our hearts and souls," read the obituary. "Marie, we know you would want us to focus on the positives and to be good to each other, this we will do in your memory."

A funeral for two more victims, 13-year old Drayden and 17-year-old Dayne Fontaine, will be held in La Loche on Tuesday. A wake was held for the two boys Friday night.
