Bryce Sherring and Dawson Leedahl had just dismounted after a sunset horseback ride on a beautiful February evening when Leedahl got down on one knee and popped the big question.

"He said that he wanted to ask me something that he's been wanting to ask me for a while. And I was just, like, in shock," Sherring said.

"I didn't even know what he was doing until he pulled out the ring. And I saw he was, like, tearing up. And that's when he had asked me if I would marry him."

The moment was made even more special by a one-of-a-kind ring handcrafted by Sherring's father, who is a goldsmith, has been in the jewelry business for 40 years and owns a shop in Yorkton, Sask.

"He's been a goldsmith for as long as I've known him," Sherring said.

Sherring uploaded a video to TikTok with footage of her dad making the ring. It went viral and had more than 2.9 million views.

Bryce Sherring says she always imagined her father designing her engagement ring. Her fiancé Dawson Leedahl teamed up with her dad, a veteran goldsmith of 40 years who runs his jewelry business in Yorkton, Sask., to make the proposal special with a unique design.

She said she had no idea her fiancé and father had been planning the proposal. They even kept it a secret from her mother.

"I'm really close with my mom and my parents work together," Sherring said. "The week before I had asked her. I was like, 'has Dawson bought a ring or anything like that?' ... She had no clue."

Leedahl said that whenever the couple is in Yorkton they always go to the family jewelry shop. Once he knew he wanted to marry her Sherring, it was an easy choice to go to her dad.

"We went there for Christmas and that's when I asked him for permission," he said. "Then I asked him to help me start getting a ring going."

The ring is 18 karat gold and has a Canadian oval diamond from the Ekati diamond mine.

For her father, who is also named Bryce Sherring, making an engagement ring for his daughter was a whole new experience.

"I feel good about being a part of it, and being a part of my daughter's [proposal]," he said. "Over the moon, big time."
