Mark Carney stops in Saskatoon in final push before election day

As Canadians prepare to head to the polls on Monday, Liberal Leader Mark Carney returned to Saskatoon on Sunday afternoon to deliver his final message.

It marks his second visit to the city during this campaign and the fourth visit overall from federal leaders during the 2025 election.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre held a rally on Thursday evening at a warehouse in the city, while NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh visited Saskatoon earlier in the campaign.

Carney began his visit by marking the deaths of 11 people at a Filipino street festival in Vancouver on Saturday night.

"Our hearts go to the friends and the families of those affected. It's a terrible loss," he said.

Poilievre held a rally in Oakville, Ont., while Singh spoke in Penticton, B.C., on Sunday. Both leaders offered their condolences to the victims.

Reaction to Carney in Saskatoon

Hunter McMillan, who came from Prince Albert, Sask., for Carney's visit said he liked what he heard from the Liberal leader.

"When you have a guy that's got strong words and a lot of experience behind them, it makes you feel a little bit more comfy with all this craziness going around."

Landon Orenchuk, a Saskatoon resident, noted the significance of the federal leaders coming to Saskatoon this election cycle, including the turnout for Poilievre's rally on Thursday.

"I think specifically with this election, it's a very important one, and it kind of shows by all the support," said Orenchuk.
