Missinippi Air adds flights to Northern Manitoba from Saskatoon
Missinippi Air has added new flights from Northern Manitoba to Saskatoon.
The flights from Flin Flon and The Pas will operate Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The first flight will take off on March 2 at 11:00 a.m..
The First Nations company said northern communities have been requesting the route for a long time.
"We seem to be shackled by the highway systems and by the transportation systems as they are. In many cases it's a money saver, it's a time saver and it's just an overall better opportunity for us to travel," said Arlen Dumas, the president of the airline.
Dumas said most of the travellers will be flying from Saskatoon to other cities, or people doing business in the area.
A one-way ticket on Missinippi's nine-seat aircraft from Flin Flon costs $349 and $698 return, including taxes and fees. A ticket from The Pas costs $448 one way and $896 return.
General Manager of Missinippi Air, Ricky Brenton hopes the service to Saskatoon will increase in the future.
