Outbreak declared at École River Heights School in Saskatoon after 7 cases discovered
One classroom has moved to remote learning, all others continuing to run at school
Parents of children at a Saskatoon elementary school have been notified about a COVID-19 outbreak.
On Wednesday, Saskatoon Public Schools sent parents a letter telling them that an outbreak has been declared at École River Heights School.
In a news release, the public school division said seven cases of COVID-19 had been discovered.
One classroom has moved to remote learning. All others will continue with additional measures in place.
Any classrooms with a positive case will remain inside their classroom cohort for the entire school day. That includes recess and lunch, as well as any classes that normally have classes combining, like band and resource teaching.
Any school-wide activities, like assemblies, have been cancelled.
Students in an affected classroom can continue to ride the school bus and attend before and after school programs.
As of Oct. 1st, Unvaccinated students who are close contacts of a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19 are no longer exempt from self-isolation. These students must stay home and not attend in-person learning or extra-curricular activities.
Over the weekend, outbreaks were declared at Bedford Road and Mount Royal Collegiate.
On Monday, Saskatoon Public Schools also announced that one classroom at wâhkôhtowin School and one classroom at Chief Whitecap School had been moved to remote learning.
There have 171 reported cases in the city's public school division since classes began in September at 48 schools.
