About 25 residents of a Saskatchewan group home for people with mental disabilities have been relocated after their unionized care workers were locked out.

About 45 employees of Variety Place in Outlook were locked out on Sunday. Variety Place is the owner-operator of the facility.

They've been without a contract since September 2013.

The Service Employees International Union West says it's been trying to negotiate a collective agreement with the employer and had served strike notice, but still wanted to bargain.
