A well-known corporate donor will leave its mark on the Children's Discovery Museum on the Saskatchewan — in more ways than one.

PotashCorp announced it would be making a $2.5 million dollar donation to the museum. The money means PotashCorp will have naming rights to the facility.

"It's very big for us," said museum president Dave Hunchak. "The whole campaign's target is $10 million, so this, in itself, is one-quarter of that goal."

The children's museum will eventually take over the old Mendel Gallery space, located on Spadina Crescent.

Currently, the museum has raised $4 million out of a total $10 million goal.

The museum will have a broad mandate to teach children about science, culture, arts and engineering. It's expected to open sometime in 2018.

PotashCorp also has naming rights to the PotashCorp Playland at Kinsmen Park, located across the street.
