Saskatchewan country musicians set to shine
Artists gathering in Nipawin to celebrate 25th anniversary
It's a place for old friends and new music. The Saskatchewan Country Music Association is celebrating its silver anniversary this weekend in Nipawin.
The festival has grown a lot in the last 25 years. These days, many of this province's musicians are now making an impact across the country and around the world.
Three-time Juno and seven-time Canadian Country Music Award winner Charlie Major is hosting the awards show. "Saskatchewan is almost like a second home to me, I've played out here so often," says Major. "The people out here are great, have always been great to me, supported me and it just kinda feels like home."
"I can't remember a time where you could just rattle off so many big names in country music," she said. "I think our province is in really good hands over the next couple of years."
There are also plenty of extra performances that fans can take in this weekend. Wyatt, Codie Prevost and Blake Berglund will all be playing all ages shows. The awards will be held on Sunday night.
