Saskatoon police seize loaded gun, drugs in traffic stop

Police arrested five people in a traffic stop early Tuesday morning and allegedly found weapons and drugs.

Saskatoon police arrested five people, including at least one youth, in a traffic stop early Tuesday morning and allegedly found weapons and drugs.

A patrol unit stopped a vehicle on the 100 block of 33rd Street West at about 12:40 a.m. CST for a Traffic Safety Act offence.

When they searched the vehicle, police said they found a loaded gun with additional ammunition, drugs and other weapons.

One of the people in the car ran from the scene during the arrest but was captured nearby.

The five suspects, who range in age from 14 to 35, face more than 60 criminal charges in total.

They will make their first court appearance in Saskatoon provincial court Tuesday morning.
