Saskatoon police are investigating two serious stabbings six hours apart.

One involved a 30-year-old woman assaulted by strangers around 1:40 a.m. CST while walking through a park in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood.

"The victim was walking with another person through the park when they were approached by a group of persons believed to be unknown to them," police said in a news release Thursday.

"The victim attempted to run but fell to the ground and was stabbed multiple times."

Police say her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. They are still searching for suspects.

In an earlier release Thursday, police said a 20-year-old man is recovering from a serious stab wound he suffered around 9:30 p.m. CST. Wednesday

It happened on the 1400 block of Idylwyld Drive.

"The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival," police said.

"Continued investigation found that a verbal confrontation occurred between the suspect and victim, who are believed to be known to each other, resulting in the stabbing."

Police are still investigating.
