Owners of a Saskatoon tourism landmark are frustrated after it was vandalized earlier this week.

On Tuesday morning, someone sneaked onto the Prairie Lily riverboat and started breaking windows.

"There was a lot of broken glass and the individual had sort of rooted through whatever spaces he could kind of get into and threw things in the river," said owner Joan Steckhan.

"There's certainly some some extensive costs and glass replacement."

Steckhan said people walking along the river regularly check on the boat's safety.

"They kind of watch our baby and that's really gratifying for us," she said.

"So, I think it hurts a little bit more when you know that there's still some folks out there that will will come and do damage."

Police and the Commissionaires quickly arrived on scene but the vandal escaped before he was caught.

"Unfortunately, there's not a lot anyone can do," said Steckhan. "There weren't any fingerprints or anything taken the individual who had left by the time they got there."

The riverboat has sailed the South Saskatchewan River since 2012.

The ship will start its regular schedule May 10.
