It was a moment of historical significance for the world, captured by CBC's Rick Mercer Report, in Saskatoon, Sask.

An estimated 8,200 people came to the city's Victoria Park on Jan. 30, 2016 to toss a snowball. The huge effort was part of a (unconfirmed) successful attempt to take the Guinness World Record for the largest snowball fight, ever, away from an American city.

Seattle, WA, currently holds the (official) Guinness World Record for such a feat involving 5,834 people.

"Just another day on the prairies," Mercer told a drenched camera, amid the snowy pandemonium.
