A new photographic movement is taking place in Saskatchewan. As temperatures dip to -40 C with the wind chill, those who brave the frigid weather are turning the camera on themselves.
They're shooting photos to prove they went outside, or to disprove they're soft. Fur-trimmed parkas frame frosty facial hair. Toques and scarves, and sometimes ski goggles, are their fashion accessories.
Many believe the blurred effect is created by a filter, but in fact, it's actually caused by the subject swaying back and forth to keep warm or from the photographer's frosty breath.
Some say the movement came to Saskatchewan with the southwest winds. Others say it came from the northwest, but everyone agrees on one thing — it's cold, and the perfect photo op.
