Saskatoon Valkyries take back WWCFL championship against Edmonton Storm
Valkyries slam Edmonton Storm 81-6 in WWCFL championship game
The Saskatoon Valkyries left no doubt they are the best women's football team in Western Canada.
The Valkyries beat the Edmonton Storm 81-6 to take the Western Women's Canadian Football League championship title.
The Valkyries came out strong on the field at Lethbridge, Alta., keeping the Storm at bay with zero points for much of the game.
At halftime, the Valkyries led the Storm 54-0.
The players went on to clinch the win, only letting Edmonton score six points.
Last week, Saskatoon beat out its rival team, the Regina Riot, to gain a spot in the championship against Edmonton.
Saskatoon has made its way to the league finals every year except 2015 — which was won by Regina.
This is the team's fifth championship title since 2011.
The Valkyries only lost one game this season — and by a thread — when they fell 27-26 to Regina.
