Halifax named the donair its official food today. The debate divided city council and it came down to the mayor's vote to decide whether the meat-filled pita would represent the city as its official food.
So we thought it would be fun to ask you what you think the official foods should be in Regina and Saskatoon. And like out on the East Coast, it created quite the debate here in Saskatchewan.
Reginans are proud of their pizza culture. On Facebook, Matthew Harrison wrote that Regina has the "best pie in the world!"
Dana Hupe on Facebook suggests one of the top contenders — saskatoon berry pie.
Kelly Dae Dash asked on Facebook whether rink fries could be an official food? Of course!
Terri Robblee summed it up on Facebook using one word: "Perogies!"
Ash Hamilton on Facebook suggested "Bannock. And cheese."
Lee Ubell nominated on Facebook the bison burger.
Lin Zee on Facebook goes with another rink-related food. She votes for the rink burger to become Saskatoon's official food.
