Man accused of hitting woman with metal pipe, vandalizing Saskatoon business

A 24-year-old man who allegedly damaged a restaurant and assaulted a woman with a metal pipe has been charged and will appear in Saskatoon's provincial court later Tuesday.

Woman, 68, did not suffer serious injuries, according to police

Saskatoon police have arrested a man after an early morning incident at a restaurant on Tuesday. 

Police were called to the 100 block of Confederation Drive around 5:30 a.m. CST after hearing reports a man had damaged the restaurant and assaulted a 68-year-old woman with a metal pipe in the parking lot. 

Officers arrived and took a 24-year-old-man into custody without trouble. Police believe the man was intoxicated from an unknown substance.

The woman was not seriously injured, according to a police news release. 

The 24-year-old has been charged with assault, obstruction, mischief under $5,000 and breach of probation.

He will be appear in provincial court on Tuesday afternoon.
