No smoke or fire was found in investigation, officials say

One hundred and fifty workers at the Agrium Vanscoy Potash mine are on their way home after spending more than three hours in refuge stations underground Wednesday afternoon, officials say.

The workers had been moved to the shelters shortly after 12:30 p.m., following a single report of smoke that was called in by an employee.

The mine's rescue team investigated and found no smoke or fire.

Officials at the mine say it was probably a false alarm, but they will continue to investigate.

All workers at the mine are safe and accounted for, according to a company spokesperson.
