Dan Scott searches for best ways to communicate with search engines

Systems librarian Dan Scott is searching for the best ways to ensure material from academic and cultural institutions shows up in search engines like Google.

Search engines like Google have become a way of life for finding out information.

But for cultural and academic institutions, finding a way to compete with the clutter of the internet has become a real challenge.

That's where systems librarians like Dan Scott at Laurentian University come in.

Scott's research focuses on the best way to communicate with search engines so they accurately display everything from the hours of operation of a library to academic articles in the collection.

Scott explained his field of research to Megan Thomas on CBC Sudbury's Morning North radio show:

This edition on Summer U we featured Laurentian University's Dan Scott. He's working to make sure academic and cultural materials show in in web searches like Google. How? He explains to Morning North host Megan Thomas.
